What theory did Hippocrates invent?
The theory of four humours that our body is converted into four quadrants, including black bile yellow, bile blood and phlegm
What theory did Galen invent?
The theory of opposites that when we are ill that our humours are bald and that we need to increase the opposite humour to cure the illness
What are the Religious beliefs that caused disease?
As punishment for sin. Devil testing that you’re worthy to God. leprosy (said to be sent by God for punishment)

What were the Causes of illness in mediaeval towns?
Waste buckets poured out windows. Sewage streams. Bath houses.
What was the regimens sanitatis?
The regimen Senator was a book for rules of health. This included stay on friendly terms with neighbours, avoid stress and breathe clean eastern/northern air.
What was a wise woman?
A female who treated illness with herbal remedies they could train as a midwife with bishops permission could qualify as a surgeon but not allowed schooling.
What was an apothecary?
An apothecary was a mediaeval chemist or pharmacist.
What was a physician?
A male who studied a medical school and university for seven years knew Little about human anatomy very expensive.
What was a barber surgeon?
A surgeon that also qualified as your barber they were not trained and only did basic surgery. They were the cheapest surgery as did not have any anaesthetic.
When did the black death come to England and how?
It’s arrived in England from trade in Asia in 1348
What did people in 1348 believe caused the black death?
People believed it was God‘s punishment
What actually caused the black death?
An infection on fleas that infected rats leading to infecting humans
