What was SYDENHAM famous for?
Categories illness by symptoms by observation and wrote a book (“Observation medicae”). He works out scarlet fever and measles are different. Known as the English Hippocrates
What was HARVEY famous for?
He works out that the heart is a pump, that blood circulates, it is not burnt and it is not made in the liver. He does lots of work on cold blooded animal: lizards, frogs, snake so he can see slow circulation.
What was VESALIUS famous for?
An anatomist. He does dissections of humans. He proves over 200 of Galens mistakes wrong. E.g. the jaw is made of one bone not two, and there is no physical soul. Vesalius inspires other scientists, changes training of physicians.

PLAGUE DOCTORS wore beaks with herbs and carried pomanders (sweet smelling balls of herbs)
QUARANTINES people in their homes – red cross painted on door with “Lord have mercy on us”. Locked in for 28 DAYS. Closed theatres, shut big fairs, banned large gatherings like funerals
