Cannula Technique

  1. Remove cannula sheath

  3. Loosen needle - withdraw and replace
  4. Anchor vein
  5. 10-30º
  6. Observe first flashback
  7. Lower cannula and advance further 2mm
  8. Partially withdraw needle for second flashback
  9. Advance cannula and withdraw needle
  10. Connect extension set to cannula
  11. Dispose of needle
  12. Secure wings
  13. Flush with normal saline
  14. Secure cannula
  15. Thank, safety net, and document
