- may increase astma symptoms

how do calcium channel blockers work
- block calcium from coming into cell wall
- decrease contractility
- relax cells = help relax stiff vessels
- decrease BP= less work for heart = less O2 required = helps w/ ischemia

- inhibit enzymes from converting angiostensin
- angio II increaes BP by increaing amount of salt and water retained by the body
what are ACE inhibitors used to treat
- hypertension
- congestive heart failure
- increase life span of CHF patients

-therefore BP wont increase with increased work load

- block action of angiostensin II
