  • *NEVER GIVE BB W/ COCAINE USE!!
    1. sinus bradycardia
    2. 2nd / 3rd degree AV block
    3. SBP < 100
    4. HR < 45
    5. PR >.24

coumadin - sig interactions

A

ANTIBIOTICS! esp amoxicillin, clarithromycin, bactrim, norfloxacin - most w/in 1st 3 days of antibiotics - risk of OVERCOAGULATION!

FQ side effects / diet interaactions

  • QT prolongation, tendinitis, teratogenic!

- avoid w/ calcium, iron, aluminum, magnesium products - avoid 6 hours before or 2 hours after taking the med

meds for BPH…

A

2 main categories - alpha 1 antagonist (doxazosin, terazosin, tamsulosin - flomax) which block receptors to relax smooth muscle and 5 alpha reductase inhibitors (finasteride) which decrease DHT to testosterone conversion

mildly obese patient with erythematous, macerated rash that is wet and itchy in the intertriginous areas, no lymphadenopathy…dx?

A

CANDIDIASIS!!!

  • look for satellite lesions!!
  • w/ secondary syphilis often have nontender generalized lymphadenopathy
