How do they work, what are their doses?

A

Naltrexone - opioid receptor antagonist = 25mg test dose then 50mg daily
Acamprosate - GABA analogue = 666mg TID

Side effects common to both = nausea, vomiting, headache
Can’t use naltrexone in opiate users e.g. on endone
Can’t use acamprosate in severe hepatic / renal impairment
