Acts on alpha and beta receptions increasing heart rate and oxygenation, promotes vasodilation and vasoconstriction
Indication
Anaphylaxis
Life threatening asthma
Cautions
Hypertension - patients who take channel blockers
Only to be given IM
Adrenaline 1 in 10,000
Indication
Cardiac arrest - Non shockable immediately / after 3rd shock in shockable
Post ROSC
Caution
Do not give to patients who are hyperthermic - less than 30 degree
Amiodarone
Drug action
Acts as an anti arrhythmia drug helping treat arrhythmias such as VT / VF
Indication
Cardiac arrest - Shockable rhythm after the 3rd shock and 5th shock.
Atropine
Drug action
Inhibits over stimulation of the vagal system within the heart.
^ vagal stimulation = Decreased heart rate
Indication
Bradycardia (HR>40)
Caution
Heart transplant / Hypothermia
Aspirin
Drug action
Inhibits the acts of proglabastin which include pain, inflammation and blot clotting.
Indication
ECG evidence of Myocardial infarction/ ischemia
Evidence of TIA
Caution
Anybody >16 yo, allergy, Known GI bleed, blood clotting condition.
Cefotaxime
Drug action
An antibiotic that interferes with bacterial cell well synthesis and causes bacterial death
Indication
Indicated in suspected meningitis where benzylpenicillin cannot be used
Indicated for long bone open fractures
Contraindication
Known Allergy

Clopidegral
Drug action
Clopidegral is a blood thinner that acts by stopping platelets from sticking together
Indicated
Clopidegral is indicated in STEMI patients over the age of 18 years old
Contraindication.
Known Internal bleeding
Chlorophenamine
Drug action
Chlorophenamine is an antihistamine that works by blocking the effects of histamine.
Indicated
Symptomatic stable allergic reaction
Anaphylaxis where all treatment has been completed successfully and patient can not take oral meds.
Contraindication
Known allergy
Dexamethasone
Drug action
Acts as a cortisosteriod helping to reduce inflammation.
Indicated in croup in children
Avoid with known allergy
Diazepam
Drug action
Acts by increasing the amount of GABA therefore increasing muscle relaxation, reducing anxiety and increasing drowsiness
Indicated in convulsions lasting more than 5 minutes, or 3 or more convulsions in a hour and still seizing.
Eclamptic convulsions lasting more than 2 minutes, or repeated convulsions. Symptomatic cocaine toxicity where patient has chest pain, hypertension or convulsions.
Contraindication
Known allergy.
