Medication Interactions/Considerations Flashcards
1
Q
What is the food interaction with anticoagulants and the consideration to be taken into account for those taking these?
A
Anticoagulants (warfarin) oppose the clotting action of Vitamin K.
Patients are advised to eat moderate, consistent amounts of these nutritious vitamin K-rich foods (leafy greens). Patients are then advised to avoid huge swings in their intakes and their medication is monitored and adjusted if necessary.
