What is digoxin used for?
Used to treat heart failure (usually along with other medications) and certain types of irregular heartbeat (such as chronic atrial fibrillation) - it reduces strain on the heart and helps it maintain a normal, steady, and strong heartbeat.
When should you not take digoxin?
If your HR is below 60 bpm, also check with doctor before giving if the HR is fast or irregular
What is bisoprolol used for?
Used to treat hypertension and heart failure
- for hypotensive patients it helps prevent future heart disease, heart attacks and strokes.
- also used to prevent chest pain caused by angina.
- and used to treat atrial fibrillation and other conditions that cause an irregular heartbeat.
What does bisoprolol do to your body?
Slows down your HR and makes it easier for your heart to pump blood around your body
What is mycophenolate used for?
Used with other medications to help prevent the body from rejecting kidney transplants. It works by weakening the body’s immune system so it will not attack and reject the transplanted organ.
What are immunosuppressive agents?
Drugs which inhibit or prevent activity of the immune system - e.g. to ensure and organ transplant is not rejected
What medication should be taken for high cholesterol?

What types of statins are there?
(all end in 'statin') Atorvastatin (Lipitor) fluvastatin (Lescol) pravastatin (Lipostat) rosuvastatin (Crestor) simvastatin
When should you not take statins?
Statins should not be taken if you have severe liver disease or if blood tests suggest that your liver may not be working properly, there are risks for those breastfeeding/pregnant/70+/regular drinker/history of muscle-related side effects when taking a statin or fibrate/
having a family history of myopathy or rhabdomyolysis
What is sertraline?
An anti-depressant - a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI)
When are there risks for taking sertraline?
If you have epilepsy (can cause seizures), if you have ever taken any other meds for depression (can interact and cause hypertension), have a heart problem (can speed up HB), have diabetes (can cause high bms)
What is clopidogrel?
A blood thinner/an antiplatelet medicine - makes your blood flow through your veins more easily (decreases blood clots-an anticoagulant)
What is docusate?
A stool softener
What is dalteparin?
An injectable under the skin blood thinner - prevents complications related to unstable angina (chest pain) or heart attack also prevents deep vein thrombosis
When shouldn’t you give dalteparin?
When they have a low platelet count, or high risk of bleeding (Nose bleeds, wounds, or recent major surgery)
