Q

What is a Conversion disorder?

A

This usually occurs after a stressful or a significant event. All types of conversion disorders tend to remit after a few weeks or months, particularly if associated with a stressful life event. It is associated with loss of motor or sensory function and the patient doesn’t consciously feign the symptoms (factitious disorder) or seek material gain (malingering). Some atients may be indifferent to their apparent disorder - la belle indifference - although this has not been backed up by some studies
