Body planes
fixed lines of reference along which the body is often divided or sectioned.
Median plane
Divide the body into right and left halves.
Coronal or frontal plane
divides the body into equal and or unequal parts from the front or back.
Cross horizontal or transverse plane
Divides the body into upper and lower parts
Sagittal plane
divides the body into unequal parts that are parallel to the median plane.
oblique plane
divides the body at a 45 degree angle
directions, positions and movements
describe the position of one organ relative to another, usually along the main planes
superior or cranial
direction towards the head
inferior or caudal
direction towards the toes.

away from the midline of the body

towards the midline of the body
