I can describe the purpose of med link and when we are required to contact this support

A

MedLink’ provides specialist inflight medical emergency advice and is available 24/7.

● when a turn-back or diversion is contemplated
● the physicians kit is opened
● the defibrillator is used
● when an onboard Medical Practitioner is paged (when there is a Medical Practitioner on board, the Practitioner is to be advised that Air NZ requires contact with MedLink)
● and/or when oxygen treatment is not working
● and/or when passenger or crew member does not respond to initial first aid treatment

In flight deck in satchel and ism will carry a copy
Complete form in as much detail as possible

I can explain the process applied when dealing with a death on board

A

PIC will contact the destination airport and advise Ian NZ groundstaff the following
.Name of deceased
Approximate age
Time of death
Type of death

Landing nobody may disembark until clearance has been obtained from the port authorities

Drawing a death in flight Fa1 Must
Keep flight crew informed
Closely monitor the situation
Organise resources and people to assist crew
That motility kit is used to carry out all precautions with it
Complete a sector report to report medical treatment by whoever administered it

I can explain the permissions required to use the daily first aid kit, first aid and physicians kit

A

First aid kit – must have PIC permission to open
Daily first aid kit – no permissions required
Physicians kit – PIC To be informed whenever kit is needed/has been used. med link called any time kit is opened

I know procedure for seeking medical assistance from registered medical professionals on board and the details that must be collected from them following a medical incident

A

Ensure that at least three PA calls have been made for a doctor or someone with medical training.

If medical assistance is given by a medical professional on a flight the following will be recorded in the sector report:
● name of medical professional
● address
● telephone number
● Passenger Numerical Reference (PNR) from their ticket (if possible)
● actual details of assistance, including medical supplies used and time spent administering medical support

I know the permissions required for the administration of prescription drugs from the physicians kit

A

I need permission from either a doctor on board or mid link
We can administer the EpiPen, salbutamol, and the Nitrolingual spray (GTN Spray) as long as this is the persons usual medication.
