Arterial line
monitoring device - catheter inserted into artery and attached to an electronic monitoring system. used to measure BP or to obtain blood samples.
central venous pressure catheter
measuring pressures in right atrium or superior vena cava via indwelling venous catheter and a pressure manometer. evaluates r ventricular function
indwelling right atrial catheter - hickman
cephalic or internal jugular vein to superior vena cava and right atrium. long term admin of substances
intracranial pressure monitor
measures pressures exerted against the skull using pressure sensing devices
oximeter
photoelectric device used to determine oxygen saturation of blood
pulmonary artery catheter - swan-ganz catheter
soft flexible catheter insterted through vein into pulmonary atery. measures pulmonary artery pressure.
nasal cannual
1cm into each nostril to supply oxygen
oronasal mask
covers nose and mouth to deliver oxygen
tent
canopy placed over head and shoulders to deliver oxygen at a higher than normal level
tracheostomy mask
placed over a stoma or tracheostomy to supply oxygen
External catheter
applied over shaft of penis and is held in place by strap or adhesive
