Aseptic technique
Practices and procedures that help reduce infection.
Medical asepsis (clean techniques)
Procedures for reducing the # of organisms present and preventing the transfer of those organisms.
EX: hand hygiene, barrier techniques, routine environmental cleaning.
Surgical asepsis ( sterile techniques)
Procedures to eliminate all microorganisms (pathogens, spores) from an object or area.
