Microorganism that cause disease

Normal flora
Microorganism that normally live on or in humans and do not cause diseases.
Aerobic bacteria
An organism that requires oxygen in order to exist
Anaerobic bacteria
Able to live and grow only when oxygen is absent
Spore
An inactive cell that can survive in extreme living condition
Virulence
An organism’s power or ability to cause injury to a host
Asepsis
The absent of infection
Infection
Microorganism cause injury to host
Colonization
Bacteria living together, not enough numbers to manifest signs of infection
Communicable/ contagious disease
A community acquired infection disease that can be transmitted to others
Carrier
Person or animal who harbors a pathogen and can transfer it to others but show no signs of illness
Opportunistic infection
Infection from a detective immune system that cannot defend against pathogens normally found in the environment
Localized infection
An infection in one body area
Sepsis
An infection that has spread into the bloodstream sometimes referred to as septicemia.
