Medial Thigh Muscles Flashcards
Gracilis origin
Line on body of pubis, inferior rami of pubis and ramus of ischium
Gracilis insertion
Medial proximal shaft of tibia
Gracilis innervation
Obturator nerve (L2-L3)
Gracilis function
Adductors thigh at hip joint, flexes leg at knee joint
Pectineus origin
Pectineal line and adjacent bone of pelvis
Pectineus insertion
From base of lesser trochanter to linea aspera on posterior proximal femur
Pectineus innervation
Femoral nerve (L2-L3)
Pectineus function
Adducts and flexes thigh at hip joint
Adductor longus origin
Body of pubis
Adductor longus insertion
Linea aspera on middle one-third of shaft of femur
Adductor longus innervation
Anterior division of obturator nerve (L2-L4)
Adductor longus function
Adducts and laterally rotates thigh at hip joint
Adductor brevis origin
Body of pubis and inferior pubic ramus
Adductor brevis insertion
Posterior proximal femur and upper one-third of linea aspera
Adductor brevis innervation
Obturator nerve (L2-L3)
Adductor brevis function
Adducts thigh at hip joint
Adductor magnus origin
Adductor part originates from ischiopubic ramus, hamstring part originates from ischial tuberosity
Adductor magnus insertion
Adductor part inserts into posterior proximal femur, linea aspera, medial supracondylar line, hamstring part inserts into adductor tubercle and supracondylar line
Adductor magnus innervation
Obturator nerve (L2-L4) for adductor part, tibial division of sciatic nerve (L2-L4) for hamstring part
Adductor magnus function
Adducts and laterally rotates thigh at hip joint
Obturator externus origin
Obturator membrane and adjacent bone
Obturator externus insertion
Trochanteric fossa
Obturator externus innervation
Posterior division of obturator nerve (L3-L4)
Obturator externus function
Laterally rotates thigh at hip joint
