Medial Thigh Muscles Flashcards
Origin: Pectineus
Superior ramus of pubis
Origin: Adductor longus
body of pubis inferior to pubic crest
Origin: Adductor brevis
Bod and inferior ramus of pubis
Origin: Adductor magnus
Inferior ramus of pubis, ramus of ischium, and ischial tuberosity
Origin: Gracilis
body and inferior ramus of pubis
Origin: Obturator externus
margins of obturator foramen and obturator membrane
Insertion: Pectineus
Pectineal line of femur, just inferior to lesser trochanteer
Insertion: Adductor longus
middle third of linea aspera of femut
Insertion: Adductor brevis
pectineal line and proximal part of linea aspera of femur
Insertion: Adductor magnus
Gluteal tuberosity, llinea aspera, medial supracondylar line (adductor part)
and adductor tubercle of femur (hamstring part)
Insertion: Gracilis
Superior part of medial surface of tibia
Insertion: Obturator externus
Trochanteric fossa of femur
Innervation: Pectineus
Femoral nerve; may receive a branch from obturator nerve (L2-L4)
Innervation: Adductor longus
obturator nerve (L2-L4)
Innervation: Adductor brevis
Obturator nerve (L2-L4)
Innervation: Adductor magnus
Adductor part: obturator nerve (L2-L4)
Hamstring part: tibial part of sciatic nerve
Innervation: Gracilis
Obturator nerve (L2-L3)
Innervation: Obturator externus
Obturator nerve (L3-L4)
Main Actions: Pectineus
Adducts and flexes high at hip; assists with medial rotation of thigh
Main Actions: Adductor longus
Adducts and medially rotates thigh at hip
Main Actions: Adductor brevis
Adducts thigh at hip and to some extent flexes it
Main Actions: Adductor magnus
Adducts thigh at hip;
Adductor part: also flexes thigh at hip
Hamstring part: extends thigh
Main Actions: gracilis
Adducts thigh at hip, flexes leg at knee and helps rotate it medially
Main Actions: Obturator externus
Rotates thigh laterally at hip; steadies femoral head in acetabulum
