Medial thigh adductors Flashcards
Innervation of Adductor Brevis?
Obturator Nerve (L2-L4)
Action of Adductor Brevis?
Adduction of the thigh, flexion + external rotation + stabilisation of the hip joint
Origin of Adductor Brevis?
Inferior ramus of the pubis
Insertion of Adductor Brevis?
Superior half of the medial lip of linear aspera
Origin of Pectineus?
Superior pubic ramus
Action of Pectineus?
Flexion + adduction + internal and external rotation of the hip joint, pelvis stabilisation
Insertion of Pectineus?
Pectineal line of the femur
Innervation of Pectineus?
Femoral nerve (L2-L4)
Origin of Adductor Longus?
Medial part of the superior pubic ramus
Insertion of Adductor Longus?
Middle third of linear aspera
Action of Adductor Longus?
Flexion + external rotation + adduction of hip joint, pelvis stabilisation
Innervation of Adductor Longus?
Obturator nerve (L2-L4)
Origin of Gracilis?
Inferior pubic ramus
Insertion of Gracilis?
Anteromedial surface of proximal side of tibia, below the medial condyle
Action of Gracilis?
Flexion + adduction of hip joint, flexion + internal rotation of knee joint
Innervation of Gracilis?
Obturator nerve (L2-L4)
Origin of Obturator Externus?
Anterior surface of obturator membrane, bony boundaries of obturator foramen
Insertion of Obturator Externus?
Trochanteric fossa of femur
Action of Obturator Externus?
Adduction + external rotation of hip joint, stabilises head of femur in acetabulum
Innervation of Obturator Externus?
Obturator nerve (L2-L4)
Origin of Adductor Magnus?
Adductor part: Inferior pubic ramus, ischial ramus
Ischiocondylar part: Ischial tuberosity
Insertion of Adductor Magnus?
Adductor part: Gluteal tuberosity, medial lip of linear aspera
Ischiocondylar part: Adductor tubercle of femur
Action of Adductor Magnus?
Adductor part: Flexion + Adduction + external rotation of hip joint
Ischiocondylar part: Extension + Internal rotation of hip joint
Both: Stabilises the hip joint
Innervation of Adductor magnus?
Adductor part: Obturator nerve (L2-L4)
Ischiocondylar part: Tibial division of sciatic nerve (L4-S3)
