This is the idea that audiences are passive and accept all media they receive, and as a result mass media has a large effect on the population and the media they consume will be reflected onto how they think and act
Why is the hypodermic needle theory largely redundant?
It is an outdated idea from a long time ago in the early days of mass media that resembled anything like what we know today. We know better today that audiences are more active than passive
