Creates sensitivity and emotional appeal. May appeal to children.

Using a well known person or organization to promote a product
CELEBRITY ENDORSEMENT
Play upon the emotions of the audience, often instead of information that might appeal to an audience rationally.
Emotional appeal
To show credibility.
This data may be misleading, or could exclude important information.
Facts and figures
Opposite sex attraction is often used to grab mass attention.
People may believe a product will make them more appealing to the opposite gender.
GENDER/SEX APPEAL
Comedy and parody are often used in the media to attract the viewers attention.
Humor
Direct or indirect attacks on the products in competition with the product being sold.
Often used in Political ads – name calling is used to discredit an opponent.
Name calling
Attracts the masses by using common people to advertise a product.
Often uses common, everyday language to give a natural feel to the speech.
Plain folks
Deliberately startle and offend its audience by violating norms for social values and personal ideals.
Shock appeal
The association of a product with a desirable lifestyle.
Snob appeal
Statements written or spoke about products by consumers.
Back up the companies claim that their products work or are of high quality.
