The mass media is owned/controlled by a small number of individuals and companies
Global conglomeration
This is where media companies operate in the global market producing for examples newspapers in many countries – they also control more than one
Vertical integration
This is where companies want to maximise their profits by controlling all aspects of the industry e.g. Time Warner makes films, own the cinemas, produce and distribute the films, owns TV studios etc
