A

A

It is the way all visual elements that you can see on the screen are arranged. They compliment and work together to form an overall ‘feel’ and ‘atmosphere’ to the media.

A

A

It is a way of categorising a particular media text according to its content and style.

A

Steve Neale states that “Genres are instances of repetition and different”.

This means the genre is the same but the effect is variant (different) from other movies, as they keep the same conventions but give some sort of novelty (variation).

A

A

A

It’s when one media text refers to another text, most common in animations.

A

He states there are two main themes, schemas, surrounding genres: genre of order and genre of integration.

A

It is when the cast values towards individualism and personal sacrifice. This genre sees violence as justified in certain circumstances.

Eg. The hero’s role is to reinstate the social order.

What is ‘genre of integration’?

A

It is when the cast values (a) collective group(s) who communicate towards and for the general good - they have a shared goal.

What is Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs?

A

It is the hierarchy that shows people actively look to satisfy their needs, and the higher up the hierarchy the more complex the needs are.

What is ‘self-actualisation’?

A

It is a person’s motivation to reach his/her full potential. Basic needs must be met before this can be achieved.

A

It is the study and classification of people according to psychological and behavioural criteria: values, lifestyles, attitudes and aspirations of an individual.
