What is the 180 Degree rule?
- an invisible line that can be used for two shots.
- A camera that only moves 180 degrees
- a sense of space and position
What is a ‘Cut on Action? ‘
A scene cut to a moment of impact
What is an ‘Eyeline match shot?’
to directly level at the characters eye line
What is a ‘Shot Reverse Shot’
Used to show a conversation of arguement

used to show a phone call from two different locations
What is an establishing shot?
- A shot that reveals the totality of a location or situation
- Establishing a shot
What is a montage?
A series of scenes spanning across a moment in time
What is a cut?
A jump to a different location/scene
What is a jump cut?
moving forward in time
What is a long take?
A scene with no cuts
What is a wipe transition?
A transition that wipes a previous scene to show a new one
What is a graphic match transition?
Matching scenes, cutting to a shot that matches previously
What is a smash cut scene?
abrupt and unexpected cut from one scene to another
What is a fade transition?
A transition that fades to another (often with a black screen as an interval)
What is an elipsis transition?
A cut showing a change of time
What is a dissolve transition?
a transition that dissolves a previous scene into another

A cut to a separate area that relates to a past location (e.g, a daydream or focus on an activity

What is slo-motion?
A very slow scene effect
What is split screen?
A screen that is separated by 2 or more screens to showcase more than one anle for a scene at once
What are credits for a movie?
- Credits are often seen at both the beginning at the end
- Often use a graphical scene or animated to introduce the theme of movies
