in a democracy where does the power lie and how does it affect the importance of communication
the power lies with the people and this means that the people must be aware and well informed to be able to make a decision
why do people need a media that gives correct information
because to form informed and valid opinions you must have access to all the relevant info and people recieve most of their info through the media

the views and opinions of the common people about the matters that concern them

the media evolved as a result of people needing to have an independent means of expressing their opinions aginst the ruling power

writers used print media to express thoughts and rouse the public

several freedom fighters like Lokmanya TIlak, Aurobindo Ghosh and Mahatma Gandhi started newspapers on which they criticised the British and awoke nationalistic feelings
