Q
Sodium Iodide
A
- inhibits synthesis of thyroid hormone
- edema, hemorrhage, GI upset
- given 1hr after PTU or methimazole
13
Q
Potassium Iodide
A
- surpresses release of thyroid hormone
- GI upset, rash, enlarged salivary glands
- discontinue for rash
- watch for signs of toxic iodinism
14
Q
