Rx: Amoxicillin 400 mg
DISP: 16 tabs SIG: Take 2 tabs (800mg) loading dose, then take 1 tab (400 mg) twice a day for 7 days
What is the amoxicillin prophylaxis infective endocarditis doses?
50 mg / kg (max 2g)
30-60 min before procedure
When should you do SBE (subactue bacterial endocarditis) prophylaxis?
Prosthetic cardiac valve or prosthetic material for valve repair
Previous infective endocarditis
Congenital heart defect that is unrepaired cyanotic
Completely repaired congenital heart defect within 6 months of surgery
Repaired congenital heart defect with residual defect
Cardiac transplant recipient who develops cardiac valvulopathy
What dental procedure requires SBE prophylaxis?
Manipulation of gingival tissue or periapical region of teeth or perforation of oral mucosa
