Mechanics Flashcards
How is speed different to velocity ?
Velocity must have direction specified as well as how fast something is going.
What are speed and velocity measured in ?
m/s
In a distance time graph what is a flat section ?
Stationary.
Straight up or down hills mean something is traveling at a ….. Speed ?
Steady.
What is weight and what is it measured in ?
A force measured in newtons.
What is braking distance ?
Distance travelled while braking.
What is thinking distance ?
Distance travelled in time it takes from seeing the hazard to applying the brakes.
What affects the thinking distance ?
Speed of vehicle
Reaction time
What is the momentum of an object ?
Mass x velocity = momentum
(Kg) (m/s) (Kg m/s)
What is the total momentum before always ?
Zero
