Mechanics Flashcards
What is Newton’s 1st law of motion?
A particle will remain at rest until there is a resultant force acting on it
What is Newton’s 2nd law of motion?
F = M A
What is Newton’s 3rd law of motion?
Every action has an equal and opposite reaction

S= displacement
U= initial velocity
V= final velocity
A= acceleration
T= time
What are scalar quantities?
Only have magnitude
What are vector quantities?
Force with magnitude and direction
What does the gradient represent on a velocity time graph?
Acceleration
What is the area under the graph represent on a velocity time graph?
The distance travelled.
What is the resultant force?
The overall force acting on an object.
