What is a particle?
Dimensions of the object are negligible
What is a rod?
All dimensions but one are negligible, like a pole or a beam
What is a lamina?
Object with area but negligible thickness, like a sheet of paper.
What is a uniform body?
Where mass is distributed evenly
What is a light object?
Mass of object is small compared to other masses, like string or a pulley.
What is inextensible string?
A string that does not stretch under a load
What is a smooth surface?
Surface with no friction.
What is a rough surface?
Surface that experiences friction.
What is wire?
Rigid thin length of metal.
What is a smooth and light pulley?
All pulleys considered will be smooth and light.
What is a bead?
Particle with a hole in it.
What is a peg?
A support from which a body can be suspended or rested.
What is air resistance?
Resistance experienced as an object moves through the air.
What is gravity?
Force of attraction between all objects. Acceleration due to gravity is denoted by g.
