Measurment Flashcards
SI units
To make sure everybody in the world can understand each other we all use the same units called SI units (standard units)
Meter stick
Is used to measure length (unit meter)
Stopwatch
Used to measure time (unit second)
Graduated cylinder
Used to measure the volume of liquid (unit meter cubed)
Thermometer
Used to measure temperature (unit Kelvin (degree Celsius) )
Newton meter
Used to measure force (unit newton)
Ohmmeter
Used to measure resistance (unit ohm)
Measuring length
A meter stick or ruler measures straight lines
Opisometer
An Opisometer can be used to measure short curved lines for example a road or river on a map
Trundle wheel
Used to measure long curved lengths for example around a flower bed
Vernier Callipers
To find the diameter or width of a solid object for an example marble or a piece of piping
Mass
Mass is the amount of matter in an object. It is measured in the lab using an electronic balance.Usually measured in Kg or g
Measuring area
Area;how much space something covers length x width
Irregular area
Use graph paper
Measuring volume
Volume = length x width x height it is measured in m3 (or cm3,ml, liters)
