Measurements Flashcards
EPSS
E point septal separation (tells about LV function)
- M mode spike through tip of anterior mitral leaflet in parasternal long
- Measure space between the MV peak and the constant intraventricular septum line above
< 7 mm normal
> 10 mm CHF
How long should B lines be?
Originate at pleural line and extend 18 cm
What do different sizes of subpleural consolidations represent?
If < .5 cm - more likely viral PNA, contusion or atelectasis
If .5 - 3 cm - PE
If > 3 cm - more likely malignancy or bacterial PNA
Aorta diameter
Normal < 3 cm
Surgery if > 5 cm
IVC (M mode v. 2D)
M mode
- If < 1.5 cm vol down
- If > 2.5 cm vol up
2D (measure perpendicular in longitudinal view)
- If < 10 mm is hypovolemic
- If 15-20 mm normal
IVC Collapse Index
(IVC max diameter - IVC min diameter) / IVC max diameter
Higher (75 -100%) means low volume
Lower (0-25%) means higher volume or overload
GB Wall Thickening
CBD
GB Wall - A/P axis should be 3 mm or less
CBD measure inner walls (LUMEN), should be < 6 mm, get additional 1 mm for every 10 years over 60
Appendix Wall
Outer wall to outer wall should be < 6 mm
SBO
Luminal diameter > 25 mm
Simple Ovarian Cyst
< 5 cm
Post-void residual
length x width x height x .75 (in cm)
Measure x and y in longitudinal Measure z (horizontal) in transverse view
