Q

What is the difference between が and は?

A

✅ Use が when highlighting the subject.
✅ Use は when the subject is already known or implied.

  1. Expressing Preferences, Abilities, and Existences
    • が is used with certain verbs like 好き (like), 嫌い (dislike), ある (exist), いる (exist), わかる (understand), できる (can do).

Example:
• 猫が好きです。 (I like cats.)
• 日本語がわかります。 (I understand Japanese.)
• 公園に猫がいます。 (There is a cat in the park.)

✅ が is always used in these cases, never は.
