Measure Of Relative Standing Flashcards
A z-score measures the distance between an observation and the mean, measured in units of standard deviation.
Z-scores between -2 and 2 are highly likely.
Z-scores exceeding 3 in absolute value are very unlikely and can be considered outliers (unusually large or small observations).
Z-SCORE
divide a data set into 100 equal parts. It is simply a measure that tells us what percent of the total frequency of a data set was at or below that measure
Percentiles
break the data set into 4 equal parts. The first quartile, Q1, is the 25th percentile. The second quartile, Q2, is the 50th percentile. The third quartile, Q3, is the 75th percentile. It’s important to note that the median is both the 50th percentile and the second quartile, Q2.
Quartiles
Is a tabular summary of data showing the number of frequency of items in each of several non-overlapping classes
Frequency Distribution
Graphical device for depicting categorical data summarized in a frequency, Relative frequency, or percent frequency distribution
Bar Chart
Another graphical device for depicting categorical data summarized in a frequency, Relative frequency, or percent frequency distribution
Pie Chart
is a tabular summary of data showing the number of frequency of items in each of several non-overlapping classes. This definition holds true for quantitative data as well as categorical data. However with quantitative data, we must be careful in defining the non-overlapping classes to be used in the frequency distribution
frequency distribution
is defined in the same manner as the qualitative data
Relative Frequency and Percent Frequency Distribution for quantitative date
One of the simplest graphical summaries of data.
A horizontal axis shows the range for the data. Each data value is represented by a dot placed above the axis
Dot Plot
is a graphical representation of data points organized into user-specified ranges. Similar in appearance to a bar graph, the ___ condenses a data series into an easily interpreted visual by taking many data points and grouping them into logical ranges or bins.
histogram
sometimes called a cumulative frequency polygon, is a type of frequency polygon that shows cumulative frequencies. In other words, the cumulative percents are added on the graph from left to right.
