What kind of yeast do you use?
White wine yeast
Whats the alcohol content?
Ours 12-13%, same as white wine
In general meads can be 8-20%
Mead:
oldest recorder form of alcohol
“It can be regarded as the ancestor of all fermented drinks”
Is mead sweet?
Meads can be dry, semi-sweet or sweet
ours are on the dryer, with 1 semi-sweet.
The fermentation process eats the sugar so to get a sweet mead there has to be tons of sugar(Honey) present.
Do beer or wine people like it more?
Both. A lot of the time mead does have beer-esk qualities. But it is a “Honey Wine”
How/When did you get started?
Stephanie started making mead in her garage in 2000, she spent 8 years honing in her recipes and has been in production since 2008.
She became very interested in sustainable agriculture and found Mead.
What is mead?
The defining characteristic of mead is that the majority of the beverage’s fermentable sugar is derived from honey.
Where was mead developed?
in the northern cultures where it was to cold to grow grapes.
How’s the Hangover?
Practically Non-Exsistant
Where do you get your supplies?
The only alcohol that gets all their supplies from Hawaii. Beer and wine makers have to ship in loads from mainland.
Where do you get your honey?
Our Own Hives.
Is it Carbonated?
Typically not. But some natural carbonation can happen in the bottle.
Is it best neat or on the rocks?
I typically serve it chilled but it can be consumed either way! Over ice is delicious on hot days.
