What is a comprehensive geriatric assessment?
A
Inderdisciplinary diagnostic process to determine medical conditions, mental health, function and social circumstances. Develop a holistic plan for treatment, rehab, support and long term follow up.

When are Comprehensive Geriatric Assements considered?
A
1) acute illness with change in functional ability
2) frail elderly patient prior to surgery
3) transfers of care to rehabilitation or continuing care
4) patients with 2 or more ‘geriatric giants’
