What do bedbug bites present with?
A
- Bedbugs= Cimex lectularius and hemipterus
- blood sucking parasites
- moderate to severe pruritis
- found in areas with no light - underside of mattresses. in shoes, luggage
- linear pattern of 3 or 4 bites (aka breakfast, lunch, dinner)

Uncomplicated sigmoid volvulus
A
- occurs when a loop of the intestine twists around itself and the mesentery that supports it, causing bowel obstruction
-Detorsion - If no signs of perforation: IV hydration, followed by endoscopy (detorsion)
- if signs of perforation, immediate surgical management.
- Sx: abdominal swelling, vomiting, nausea, constipation/obstipation
(same sx as acute distal intestinal obstruction) - Coffee bean sign on a plain x-ray of abdomen, convex curve

Erythema infectiosum (5th disease)
A
- Characterised by fever followed by slapped cheek appearance and a full-body rash.
- dx clinical
- can use ELISA for immunoglobulin M and G antibodies against parvovirus B 19.
- Prodrome of fever
- possible assoc sx: sore throat, coryza, headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea.
- followed by rash after 2-5 days
