• Maya or ‘illusion’ is mistaken attachment to physical world leads sikh to forget god is one true reality
• Aspects such as relationships and wants linked maya
• Avoided by focusing on god as he only source of lasting happiness

Implication - Sikhs will realise by only obeying gods hukam lasting happiness will be found
Consequence - Sikhs dedicate their lives to helping serving people

• Significant as only by recognising existence of maya, silks can act to overcome it and reunite
• Significant as reminds sikhs that god only thing that bring lasting contentment and can recognise when they are drawn by attachment

• direct result of maya means self centredness or egoism
• When someone constantly thinking abt reward of an action this called “manmukh”

Consequence - Because of haumai people begin to think they are most important, not god creating barrier
Consequence - Even carrying out sewa can be result of haumai due to feeling of personal reward

• Significant as unless sikhs understand inflict haumai, soul stuck in cycle
• Significant as if sikhs r to overcome this, they must recognise god is truth

• Both described as diseases as spread to all aspects of life
• Part of gods hukam as need to be overcome

Consequence - Sikhs carry out sewa such as cleaning serving langar
Consequence - Will do this god in mind all times

• Significant as in order to reunite sikhs need to develop virtues contentment and selflessness opposite of attachment and egoism
