Matz anatomy Flashcards
1
Q
define pericardium
A
double-walled fibroserous sac which encloses the heart and the roots of the great vessels
- Consists of fibrous pericardium (anchors heart) and Serious pericardium (prevents heat buildup due to friction)
2
Q
what ventricle makes up the sternocostal (anterior) surface?
A
Right ventricle
3
Q
What ventricle makes up diaphragmatic (inferior) surface
A
- both ventricles (primarily the left sits on diaphragm)
4
Q
what makes up the pulmonary (left) surface
A
- left ventricle, occupies the cardiac notch
5
Q
Describe the right border
A
- consists of right atrium
- located right 3rd costal carilage to right 6th costal cartilage
6
Q
describe inferior border
A
- consists of right ventricle and apex of left ventricle
- Located right 6th costal cartilage to left 5th intercostal space
7
Q
describe left border
A
- consists of left ventricel and left auricel
- located left 5th intercostal space to left 2nd costal cartilage
8
Q
describe superior border
A
- consists of right and left auricles, conus arteriosus
- located left 2nd costal cartilage to right 3rd costal cartilage
9
Q
describe cardiac skeleton
A
- fibrocartilagenous tissue
- divides atria from ventricles
- provides barrier between atrial
and ventricles for conductive system
- provides attachment for heart valves and myocardium
- AORTIC VALVE connects to all others and ANCHORS
10
Q
blood flow to SA node
A
- 60% from Right coronary
- 40% from left coronary
11
Q
blood supply of AV node
A
- Right coronary
12
Q
Describe the cardiac plexus
A
- Sympathetic trunks of vagus nerve
- enter heart via GREAT VESSELS
- Sympathetics increase HR
- Synapse from the synpathetic chain ganglia
- Afferents enter spinal cord at T1-T4 causing referred burning pain during heart attacks
13
Q
Location of heart sonds
A
- AORTIC semilunar valve = right 2nd intercostal space
- PULMONARY semilunar valve = left 2nd intercostal space
- Tricupsid valve = lower left body of sternum
- Mitral valve = left 5th intercostal space
