Joseph, wanted to establish a line of royalty and prophecy between King David and Jesus.
What does it put specific emphasis on? Why?
The prophecy, wanted to appeal to a Jewish audience, which meant viewing Jesus as a fulfilment of a prophecy.
What kind of person does Joseph come across as?
Obedient and observant Jew, but also a caring and compassionate man - did not want to make Mary feel shame/a public spectacle (betrothed = not married yet)

How does Mary conceive?
Through the Holy Spirit with no human intercourse.

What is significant about King Herod being the ruler at the time Jesus was born?
Meant that the slaughter of the infants can therefore also be included, increasing the importance of the prophecy and the importance of Jesus himself.
