Q
  1. Hot molten material inside the Earth, called magma, flows up through cracks in Earth’s crust.
  2. This new material loses heat and cools, forming new rock
  3. Over time, this new rock can be eroded into tiny bits
  4. The tiny bits can get compressed together to form a new rock
  5. Sometimes rocks are pulled under the ground deep enough where they are heated up and melted and begin the cycle over

True

A

True or false: Sometimes the interactions can be surprising.

19
Q

250 billion

A

In Greenland, about __________ tons of ice are melting each year. As the weight is moved off the land, the land is actually rising!

20
Q

All land on earth floats on a sea of molten rock in the Earth’s core and reducing the weight of the land makes it rise a little higher.

A

Why does land rise when land weight is reduced?

21
Q

Buoyant

A

able to stay afloat or rise to the top of a liquid or gas
