What Is the rite of marriage
A
The Church views marriage as a sacrament, therefore the couple are asked to celebrate their marriage in public, before a priest and in the presence of witnesses.
The bride and groom are the ministers of the Sacrament of Matrimony The priest doesn’t marry them. They marry one another. The priest is there, representing Christ and the Church, to act as a witness and to give God’s blessing.
