What is an acute angle?
An angle less than 90 degrees.
What is a right angle?
An angle of 90 degrees.
What is an obtuse angle?
An angle greater than 90 degrees and less than 180 degrees.
What is a reflex angle?
An angle greater than 180 degrees.
What is a bearing?
The angle of a line measured clockwise from north
What does BIDMAS mean and what does it stand for?
BIDMAS is the order of operations you do a calculation in. It stands for
Brackets
Indices
Division
Multiplication
Addition
Subtraction
What is an angle bisector?
A line that cuts an angle in half.
You should know how to construct one using a pair of compasses and a ruler.
What does consecutive mean?
Following on immediately from the term before
e.g. 3,4,5,6 are consecutive numbers
3,6,9,12 are consecutive multiples of 3.
What does congruent mean?
Exactly the same size and shape.
What does correlation mean?
The degree of relationship between two sets of data.
What is a cube number?
A number that is another whole number cubed e.g.
13 = 1 x 1 x 1 = 1
23 = 2 x 2 x 2 = 8
33 = 3 x 3 x 3 = 27
so 1, 8 and 27 are the first three cube numbers.
What is a cube root?
The number that, when cubed, equals the number given
e.g. the cube root of 8 is 2 since 23=8.
What is a denominator?
The denominator is the bottom number of a fraction.
What is an edge of a 3D shape?
An edge is a line where two faces meet.
What does equidistant mean?
The same distance away from two points.
e.g. A is equidistant from B and C
What is an exterior angle?
The angle formed between a polygon and a line extended fron one of its sides.
What is a face of a 3D shape?
A face is a flat surface on the solid.
