Q

100 people were asked if they prefer tea or coffee. 55 of the people were boys, the rest were girls. 21 of the girls prefer tea, 60 people prefer coffee

Complete the frequency table

A

Total boys and girls = 100
Boys= 55
100 - 55 = 45
Girls = 45
21 of the girls prefer tea
45 - 21 = 24
24 girls prefer coffee
60 - 24 = 36 36 boys prefer coffee
55 - 36 = 19 so 19 boys prefer tea

Q

200 people are surveyed to see if they preferred idea A or idea B. 107 of the people are women, the rest are men. 52 out of the 112 people who prefer idea B are women.

Complete the frequency tree

A

200 people in total men and women
107 women
200 - 107 = 93 so there’s 93 men in total
52 women prefer idea B
60 men prefer idea B
107 - 52 = 55 women prefer idea A
93 - 60 = 33 men prefer idea A

Q

B.) One of the people is selected at random write down the probablity that they prefer idea A?

C.) One of the people who prefer idea A is chosen at random write down the probability that they are a man

A

B.) 33 men prefer idea A and 55 women prefer idea A
55+33=88
All together there is a total of 200 people
Answer = 88/200

C.) 33 men prefer idea A
55 women prefer idea A
55+33=88
Therefore the probability it’s a man not a woman is 33/88

Q

1.) How do you find the area of a shape on a centimetre grid?
2.) How do you find the perimeter of a shape on a centimetre grid

A

1.) Add up all the whole squares you can see in the shape. If there are full squares and half squares add up all the full squares and include adding half squares
2.) Add all the lengths together you can see for example on a rectangle 2 sides are 6cm and the other 2 sides are 3cm (6+6+3+3 =18cm)

16
Q

1.) How do you work out the area of a rectangle
2.) How do you work out the perimeter of a rectangle

A

1.) To work out the area of a rectangle you do Length x Width
2.) To work out the perimeter of a rectangle you add up the length and width and then multiply the number you get by 2

17
Q

1.) How do you work out the area of a parallelogram
2.) How do you work out the perimeter of a parallelogram

A

1.) To work out the area of a parallelogram you do base × height

2.) To work out the perimeter of a parallelogram you add up the lengths of all 4 sides

18
Q

1.) How do you work out the area of a triangle
2.) How do you work out the perimeter of a triangle

A

1.) To work out the area of a triangle you work out 1/2 of the base and then × that number by the height or you can × the base by the height of a triangle and then divide the number 2

2.) To work out the perimeter of a triangle you add up all the lengths of the 3 sides together

19
Q

1.) How do you work out the area of a trapezium
2.) How do you work out the perimeter of a trapezium

A

1.) Add together the lengths of the 2 parallel sides, you then divide this number by 2 and then × this number by the height of the trapezium

2.) Adding all of the sides together

20
Q

What is the circumference of a circle and how do you work it out?

A

The circumference of a circle is the distance around the circle and is another name for the perimeter
To work out the circumference of a circle = pie symbol x the diameter

21
Q

1.) What is the diameter of a circle

2.) What is the radius of a circle

3.) What is the difference between the diameter and the radius of a circle

A

1.) The diameter of a circle is the distance from one side of a circle to the other through the centre

2.) The radius is the distance from the edge of a circle to the centre

3.) The diameter is always twice as long as the radius of a circle
If a pizza has a radius of 16cm
16 × 2 = 32
Then the diameter is 32cm

22
Q

How do you work out the area of a circle

A

To find out the area of a circle you locate the radius which is the distance from the edge of the circle to the centre. You then multiply this number by itself and then × the answer by pie on calculator

23
Q

What is the formula for pythagoras theorem

A

a² + b² = c²

24
Q

What is the sum of interior angles

A

minus the total number of sides by 2 and then × the number by 180
(n-2) ×180

25
1.) How do you work out the mean of a set of numbers
Add up all the numbers and then divide the total by how many numbers there are
26
How do you work out the median of a set of numbers
Place all the numbers in order from smallest to largest and then cross of the numbers left to right until you find the middle value
27
How do you work out the range of a set of numbers
The largest number - the smallest number
28
How do you work out the mode of a set of numbers
The most frequent number in a list that is being used the most
