Maths Non-calc questions Flashcards
50 people each did an activity at GL1.
Some went swimming, some played squash, the rest went to the gym.
21 of the people were female.
6 of the 8 people who played squash were male.
18 people used the gym.
9 males went swimming.
Work out the number of females who used the gym.
6 out of 8 people who played squash were male.
Therefore 8 - 6 = 2 females played squash.
That leaves 21 - 2 = 19 females for gym & swimming.
Number of people who went swimming
50 - (8 + 18) = 24
Of these, 9 were male, so females who went swimming
24 - 9 = 15
19 females went to gym and swimming
therefore 19 - 15 = 4 females went to gym.
