What is a ratio
A ratio shows the relationship between two quantities
What are indices
The amount of times it has been timed by it self for eg. 2 to the power of 4 = 1x2x2x2x2 = 16
How do you calculate the percentage of an amount
number / total number × 100
How do you calculate the reverse of a percentage
taking the percentage we have been given, dividing to find 1% and then multiplying by 100 to find 100% .
What are the three types of numbers?
Rational integers and irrational
What does integers mean?
Whole numbers, e.g. positive/negative or zero
What does rational mean?
A number that can be expressed (written) as a fraction
What does irrational mean?
Anything else (eg TT or surds)
What is HCF and what does it stand for?
Highest common factor - largest whole number which is shared by other given numbers .For example, common factors of 10 and 20 are 1, 2, 5 and 10, but the highest of those is 10; therefore, the highest common factor of 10 and 20 is 10.
What is LCM and what does it stand for?
Lowest common multiple - The lowest common multiple is the lowest multiple shared by two or more numbers. For example, common multiples of 4 and 6 are 12, 24 and 36, but the lowest of those is 12; therefore, the lowest common multiple of 4 and 6 is 12.
What is product of prime?
take any positive number and write it as a series of prime numbers being multiplied. E.g. Factor tree.
What is direct proportion?
As one value increases, so does the other. on a graph
What is perimeter?
Perimeter is a math concept that measures the total length around the outside of a shape.
What is the volume of a prism?
Volume = base x height
What is the surface area of a prism?
the total area of all of the faces
