Maths Flashcards
How do you calculate nth term
Find the difference between the sequence , this will be the term (x) before the nth term. (Xn ). Then slot 1 in for n and add and subtract to fit sequence
What do cubic graphs look like?
They have more than one change of direction
What are reciprocal graphs?
Y=1/x . There are two lines , both curved (Turing points ) opposite to each other
What are exponential graphs?
Y=number to the power of x. This will start of at the x axis and steeply move up
How do you factorise , the difference between 2 squares?
- Square each number
- Put the two in each bracket
- Put a minus and a plus between each bracket
* *If not a square, take out a common factor to make the two square numbers
How do you factories quadratics?
Ax**2 +bx +c
Find ac
1. See that factors which are the sum of b
2. Separate it out
3. Split the sum in half and factorise each one
4. The brackets should be the same
5. The remainders should make up the other brackets
How do complete quadratic inequalities?
- Factorise normally
- Find x values(opposite normal number)
3.if smaller then zero then it is under the x axis
If larger than zero then it is over the x axis
Display in the form a
What is the volume of a prism
Area of base * height
What does minus square mean?
The fraction flipped over
What is the rule of collecting like terms?
Must have the same base and power
What is the sum of interior angles formula
(n-2) *180
n = sides of the shape
How do you factorise a quadratic?
Used ax squared + bx+c
1. Find AC
2. Find the factors of AC which add up to give B
3. Slot these two values in the original position on B
4. Split them into 2 and factorise each one
You must make sure that one of the brackets are common between the two factorisations
How do you turn a recurring decimal to a fraction
Find 10x and minus it from x
How do you find the percentage change?
Change in values
————————- ✖️100
Original value
How do you find reverse percentage?
Find the value of one percent
N : 200
1: x
110:x
