Prime
A number that only has two factors.
Composite
A whole number that has three or more factors.
Prime Factorization
A way of expressing a composite number as a product of its prime numbers.
Power
A number obtained by raising a base to an exponent.
Cubed
A number raised to the third power.
Base
The number used as a factor.
Squared
A number with 2 identical factors.
Exponent
The number of times the base is used as a factor.
Powers of ten
A number like 10, 100, 1,000 and so on. It is the result of using only 10 as a factor.
Distributive property
To multiply a sum by a number, you can multiply each addend by the same number and add the products.
Compatible numbers
Numbers in a problem that are easy to work with mentality.
Product
The answer to a multiplication problem.
Factor
A number that is multiplied by another number.
