What is the sum?
The answer to an addition problem.
What is the difference?
The answer to a subtraction problem.
What is the product?
The answer to a multiplication problem.
What is the quotient?
The answer to a division problem.
What is the dividend?
The amount you want to divide up.
Dividend / Divisor= Quotient.
What is the divisor?
The number you divide by.
Dividend / Divisor= Quotient.
What is a numerator?
The top number of a fraction that tells you how many equal parts are being described.
1/4 Numerator= 1
What is the denominator?
The bottom number of a fraction that tells how many equal parts are in the whole.
1/4 Denominator= 4
What is a mixed number?
A whole number and a fraction combined into one “mixed” number.
What does it mean to simply a fraction?
Reduce a fraction to it’s lowest possible numerator and denominator.
EX: 6/12 =1/2
What is mean?
The average of the numbers.
Ex: 3+1+2+2 = 8 8/4 Mean is 2.
What is median?
The middle number, when ordered from least to greatest.
EX: 1,2,2,4,5 Median is 2
What is range?
The difference between the lowest and highest numbers.
Ex: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 Range is 1-9
What is the associative property?
Changing the grouping of 3 or more numbers does not change the product or sum.
EX: (2x3)x4 = 2x(3x4)
EX: (2+3)+4 = 2+(3+4)
What is zero property?
When you multiply any number by zero, the product will always be zero.
EX: 7x0=0
