Math Vocab Flashcards
Prime number
Number only divisible by itself and one (ex. 5, 13)
Smallest Prime number
2
Area of a circle
pi*r^2
Pi times the radius squared
Circumference of a circle
2pir (2 times pi times the radius)
OR pi*d (pi times the diameter)
Radius of a circle
Line segment from the center to the edge of the circle
Diameter of a circle
Line segment from one edge of the circle to another that goes through the center of the circle. (Two radii make a diameter)
Mean of 7, 1, 1, 2, 4
(7+1+1+2+4) / 5 = 15
Add up all the numbers then divide by the number of things
Median of 7, 1, 1, 2, 4
2
Put the numbers in order then choose the middle one. If there are two middle numbers, find the average of those two numbers.
Mode of 7, 1, 1, 2, 4
1 (most frequent number)
Range of 7, 1, 1, 2, 4
7-1=6 (subtract the smallest number from the largest one)
Area of a triangle
(1/2) base x height
Isosceles triangle
Triangle with two equal sides and two equal angles (opposite those sides)
Volume of a cube with side length 3
Volume = length x width x height = 3 x 3 x 3 = 27
