Subtracting a negative number from a positive number when the negative number is larger than the positive number
Subtract and keep the sign of the larger number (the negative sign)
When subtracting two negative numbers and one number is in parenthesis
- 7 - (-9)=
First change the operations sign from - to + to clear the parenthesis
- 7 + 9=
Then subtract and keep the sign of the larger number
- 7 + 9= 2
When adding two integers, one positive and one negative, and one is in parenthesis
7 + (-14)=
First Change the operation sign to -
7 - 14=
Then subtract and keep the sign of the larger number
7 - 14= -7
When multiplying numbers with exponents
Multiply as normal and add the exponents
When dividing numbers with exponents
Divide as normal and subtract the exponents
When dividing an inequality by a negative number
The inequality sign must be reversed
